Who Am I?

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
Still You
Hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
You told me who I am...
I am Yours,
I am Yours.

That is one of my favorite songs. :) This weekend at the quiz meet, we were discussing what we were called to, spiritually. It was more of, what can you do now? than what will you do when you're done with college or whatever?
I know what my calling is right now. God has put it on my heart to reach out to girls who feel unwanted, unloved, unbeautiful.
I know one of the quizzers was called to Japan, another was called to be a missionary to the States. And so I have to wonder something.
Do you know what you are doing to witness right now? Or, if you are not saved, do you wonder what you are ever going to turn out as, if your life is useless?
I know that it's hard to see what it is you can do. "How could I ever change the world?" But if you listen to HIS voice, He will guide you.

Guess what I did Columbus Day? I climbed a mountain. That's right. I climbed a mountain, scampered up boulders from a long-ago rock slide, edged my way through a crack in the side of the rock, nearly got blown over by the wind.
Oh, but the view was beautiful. I cannot fathom the detail God went to to create each and every tree, every leaf, every lake, every blade of grass. He is Creator of all!
Why should God bless us with this world? Why does he want us, a sinful creation, to enjoy the beauty of the forest, the majesty of the ocean, the regalia of a mountain?
The answer is in that one word. Brownie points if you can guess!!
He created us in His own image. He loves us! Are you not proud when you complete a drawing, regardless of the result? Or if you write a story? Even if you are not entirely satisfied with the result, you're still going to smile and say, "Look what I did!"
And imagine-in Genesis, when he first made the world, he said it was good.
Good? What? This may go back to my earlier post, but I know sometimes you don't feel "good enough". But think-if God failed when He made you...what does that say about Him? Saying you're not good enough belittle the One Who made who, who formed you, who knew you before you were born.
There's a series that I really like. It's called the Dragonkeeper Chronicles(by Donita K. Paul). The setting is of a world far far away, where God is called by the name of Wulder. He wrote three Tomes. In one of them(forgive me for not remembering which one) Wulder says, "Taste now and imagine. For the pleasures of this world are as a grain of sand compared to what I have in mind for you when you come to Me." This world is meant for us to enjoy!
For what can compare to the majesty of the Almighty God?

Don't Wait

So...I'm sorry this is so late, and I'm sorry it's really short. But it's a good point.
I didn't post anything earlier because...Well, I guess I was waiting for something to happen. And that's a mistake. Because for one thing, you need only to look around you to see opportunities to make something happen.
Don't wait!
Look around. See that girl in the corner? The one that's really shy, the one that doesn't seem to have any friends?  Give her a compliment. Or a smile. Even better, strike up a conversation! You might just make a new friend. At the very least, you'll make her day. And that's always worth something.
Even if that's not what you do, find something!
Don't wait for something to happen. MAKE it happen.

You're Beautiful

I went to a retreat this last weekend. God really spoke to me.
It was after the service. I had just...well, let's explain a few things. My best friend, we'll call her Draco, is prone to migraines with noise and lights. It pains me so much to see her that way. We went outside for the noisy part of it, which came before the singing, by the way. I was begging God to take her pain away, to give it to me, and he did. So I had the worst headache while I was singing, but the happiest grin on my face.
The preacher spoke on 2 Peter 2, about foolish men who draw innocent and unkowing people-new to the faith-into sin. Afterwards, he gave us a choice-we could head back to the lodge, or stay and pray. I chose to stay.
Me and Draco were both praying. She leaned over and whispered, "What can I pray for you, [Aay'liah]?"
"I always feel so...unwanted. I just...I feel like I'm not good enough." I sighed, a tear dripping down my cheek.
And she prayed for me.
Only a few minutes later, I gasped. Draco looked over at me. "What?"
"I was praying...about feeling insufficient...and God spoke to me. He...He said to me, "Daughter, you are beautiful."" And the tears poured out.
Draco smiled as I leaned against her, crying tears of joy. "You are, [Aay'liah]. You are. You're a princess."
And He gave me a mandate. He told me to never let anyone feel that she is unimportant.
Girls, I'll bet that you have all felt that way on time or another-insufficient, unimportant, unbeautiful. But you are. I'm not just saying this. It's so true. Don't look at other people and say, "I'll never be as pretty as she is. Or as talented. Or as popular." If you ever feel that way, examine your heart and see if there is any ugliness that needs to be thrown out-greed, grudges, envy, etc. And then remember: Each and every one of you has a special place in God's kingdom.
You are beautiful.

Wings Like Eagles

Those who wait on the LORD will renew their strength; they will rise up on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not grow faint. ~Isaiah 40:31
Okay, so what? Ya look at this blog, you see this verse about four million times already, so what's the point of repeating it? Because I don't think the meaning is entirely clear at first glance. It's one of those verses that you say, "Oh that sounds so pretty," and not really-REALLY think about the meaning.
To be honest, I wasn't sure myself until my big sister left for college. This is her favorite verse. So let's take a glance, just for her.
Let's start at running. Are you an athlete? Can you run forty miles without tiring? Are you a couch potato that thinks of running and gets tired? (jk. ;D) Everyone gets tired and collapses wearily on the side of the road wheezing eventually. It's simply human. Obviously, a marathon runner will have more stamina than the average teenager, but come on, no one's invincible. So it's kind of a miracle to think...running without ever getting tired? ]
Walking. It's just as much of a miracle to think of walking without ever growing faint. Personally, I think walking often takes more stamina than running sometimes. More excercise, less fat. ;)
So the synopsis of these two points- I am leaning toward eternal life! Running and walking, and your body not failing? Amaxing! God promises eternal life!
One last point. The eagles. Or rather, their wings. I believe it's a promise of freedom. Freedom from a secular world. God promises that one day, there will no longer be evil in this world.

Thank You, Jehovah, for Your amazing promises.
